My name is Codie, and I am passionate about helping people connect with one another in meaningful ways. I am a college professor and over the years I have seen the ability to connect decrease while the desire to connect increases. I have hard conversations with my students about true connections in the evermore technologically “connected” world. When we talk about connection, I overwhelmingly hear the message that my students (and people in general) don’t know how or are afraid to connect.
Congratulations on exploring an opportunity to invest time and energy in yourself. Often times society doesn’t encourage us to create the time and space for ourselves, which is fundamental in a fulfilling journey. The investments we choose (or don’t choose) build the foundation upon which everything else in our lives is built. In order to create deeply meaningful intimate connections with others, we must be able to connect with ourselves, something I term intrapersonal connection.
Connection is ultimately what makes this life worth living, so here I am. While I adore teaching and conversing with my students about connection, I aspire for more. I want to work with individuals who have made the intentional decision to improve their connection with themselves and others.
I believe in being authentic, so I might come off unconventional in my approach. I define my own parameters and I want you to truly get to know who I am. The formality of traditional bios and about me listing degrees and certifications feels constrictive and superficial. With that being said, for those curious about my credentials, I hold my Doctor of Psychology, MA in Criminal Justice and MS in Educational Psychology. I have been teaching in higher education for just over 16 years. The desire to teach certainly burns deep in my soul.
No one has ever accused me of being concise, as you have likely figured out at this point. So, I will leave you with this, I can’t, in good faith, tell you this will be easy but based on my own intimacy journey, I can say with certainty it will be worth it if you commit to making a genuine investment in yourself. I hope we have the opportunity to work together but if not, I wish you the absolute best on your intimacy journey.
